-==== Biography: ====
-Creativity, joy, and communication are all hallmarks of the music of Seattle native Phil Parisot.  Phil began studying drums at age nine, and later attended Garfield High School.  Here, he toured Europe, Japan, and the United States in the school's award-winning music program.  He then studied at William Paterson University, where the close proximity to the New York jazz scene was a source of constant enrichment.  After WPU, Phil moved to New York, studying with Rashied Ali, Carl Allen, and playing with a host of top musicians.  He returned to Seattle in 2002.
-
-Today, Phil is one of the leading drummers in the Pacific Northwest.  He has played with a veritable who's who of Northwest jazz artists, including Jay Thomas, Jim Knapp, Don Lanphere, Greta Matassa, the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, Doug Miller, Kelley Johnson, Bill Anschell, Victor Noriega, Richard Cole, Chuck Deardorf, Ari Zucker, Rob Scheps, Jovino Santos Neto, Mark Taylor, Bebop and Destruction, and Dawn Clement.  In addition, he has numerous studio recordings to his credit, and has performed in a wide variety of genres, including hiphop, rock, Brazilian, drum'n'bass, and Broadway.
-
-Teaching has always been a part of Phil's professional life.  He was on music faculty at Cornish College of the Arts from 2002 until 2005.  He has also taught at Central Washington University, Northwest University, Plateau Music, within the Seattle Public Schools, and privately.
-
-Phil's focus today lies primarily on his two groups.  The first, Big Neighborhood, has played together since 2004, and consists of David White on guitar, Chris Fagan on alto saxophone, and Doug Miller on bass.  Big Neighborhood has two critically acclaimed recordings on Origin Records, Neighbors and 11:11.  The  second group, the Axiom Quartet, was formed in 2003, and consists of Alexey Nikolaev on tenor saxophone, John Hansen on piano, and Jon Hamar on bass.  Besides maintaining a busy performance calendar, the Axiom Quartet is active in the educational field, doing clinics and masterclasses.  Both groups perform frequently around the Seattle area.

-PRESS QUOTES ON PHIL PARISOT:
-
-"Another key is drummer Phil Parisot, an inspired and quirkily orchestral timekeeper who comes up with a startling number of fresh ideas per tune, without beating you over the head with them, in a seamless blend-into-the-group-sound mode. He blends into it and makes it better, giving it some bounce and pop."
--Dan McClenaghan, All About Jazz
-
-"Throughout, Parisot imposes a muted beat or a heavy barrage to fit the shifting scenario. His complex message on “Manic” is indicative of his advanced sense of time."
--Frank Rubilino, Cadence
-
-"On drums Phil Parisot is engaged and engaging throughout; he takes up the challenges of the often complex counts with apparent ease."
--Peter Monaghan, Earshot
-
-"The playing of drummer Phil Parisot is always stimulating and strongly interactive."
--Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
-
-"Keep your ears open for drummer Phil Parisot, who at a jam session several months ago miraculously exhumed glittering cymbal crashes and crackling tom hits from another drummer's crappy drum kit."
--Christopher DeLaurenti, The Stranger
