so many favorite drummers out there, and yeah you can't have only just one as the favourite.
Mine are : josh freese, lars ulrich, john bonham, stewart copeland, and this young drummer from the willowz
loren shane humphrey
, he's just amazing performing drum solo-he caught my attention on their last february tour in valence, france.

Simply the drummer you look upon for inspiration, and enjoy his/her drumming the most. If you have one that is.
My favourite has got to be John Dolmayan.

When I first started drumming my hero was Ringo Starr. The girls swooned over the Beatles!! I told my young self, "I could do that", and it made me practice like crazy. Soon after, I heard this crazy band where the drummer had more than 2 toms and played like he was insane. His name was Keith Moon with the Who. I told myself, "I could do that" and it made me practice like crazy. Meanwhile there was this other drummer, always there, appearing on Johnny Carson or wherever, named Buddy Rich. He just played a 4 piece, his feet didn't do anything fancy, but his stick work was amazing. His name was Buddy Rich. "I told myself, "I'd like to do that" and it made me practice like crazy. Just a few years later I heard another drummer with a group called Mahavishnu Orchestra. He was playing wild fast bizarre time signatures with a double bass and totally mad. His name was Billy Cobham. I told myself, "Is that even possible?" and practiced like crazy. Other drummers came and went. For years I never experienced the amazing joy of hearing something amazing like Keith Moon's wildness, Buddy Rich's stick work. Billy Cobham's wild time signatures and double bass. Sure there were other popular drummers I enjoyed with their own styles during this time, but nothing that truly hit me as something I hadn't heard in some fashion before.
Then I heard Terry Bozzio. It wasn't speed anymore, it wasn't particular Buddy Rich stick licks, it was pure creative emotion. I loved it. I told myself, "Id like to do that", and practiced like crazy.

This list could be a mile long for me,... I've had so many influences over the years....
My all time absolute favorite drummer would be Vinnie Colaiuta.. the guy is not human,.. he can play anything...
A few others on my top list would be:
Dave Weckl
Dennis Chambers
Jojo Mayer
Zach Danziger
Terri Lynn Carrington
Brian Blade
Gavin Harrison
David Garibaldi
Clyde Stubblefield
Neil Peart
Mitch Mitchell
Buddy Rich
My dad (Tomm here on the forums)...without his influence, constant motivation and positive energy, I wouldn't be half the drummer I am today!
and it goes on,and on, and on
a few newer guys you have to check out!! ----below

H all.
I'm new here, so a little intro before I say who my favorite drummer is. I'm Omar Alvarado, and I have a blog called The Paradiddler [LINK REMOVED BY ADMIN]. I write about all things drumming, so go check it out! Very interesting articles and reviews of shows, DVD's, etc. You can go to the
Articles
page and check out articles that have been written so far. The latest is a series dedicated to ranking all of Neil Peart's eight published solos. You don't want to miss that!
You may have guessed already that Neil Peart is my favorite drummer.
You can follow me on Twitter as well! [LINK REMOVED BY ADMIN]
Thanks!

Welcome Omar, I am sorry but I had to remove the links from your post as it is your first post and it just looks to me as the whole purpose of your post was to get those links up there...
Hopefully I am wrong and you are really interested in learning and sharing drumming experience with other members at Drum Solo Artist.
Cheers

at the moment it is Stanton Moore. I love the way he combines traditional new Orleans drumming with modern drumming!

Looks like that was an accurate call on your part Pasha. I can understand self promotion, but an obvious dis-concern for the basis of this forum is just wrong. Thanks for recognizing that infraction and representing our best interests.

Like others here, my favorite of the day depends on everything from my mood to what I had for lunch.. lol
The greats have been mentioned repeatedly, so I will list others who are repeat-favorites. In no particular order:
- John Dolmayan - System of a down.
- Randy Van Patten. New drummers check this guy out on youtube, he can lay down a crazy groove and breaks it all down for you.
- That guy who gives free online metal drum lessons wearing a fuzzy orange tigger costume.
- John Panozzo (R.I.P) - Styx
- Roger Taylor - Queen
- Ron Bushy - Iron Butterfly
- Bob Siebenberg - Supertramp
- and of course, how can we omit Mick Fleetwood?
- Ginger Baker.

I need to add another to my list, but he holds the title of my favorite pure rock, some refer to it as "populist rock" drummer. DON BREWER...founding drummer of Grand Funk Railroad. 1969 and on he was laying down some innovative licks and fills.

Definitely an impossible task to pick a favorite, but lately anyone with a soulful feel and tasty chops has been getting my attention i.e. Benny Greb and Bernard Purdie.
