Hi..

I've played the drums on and off for over thirty years..had a crash course last year.. Cheesy
Sell drums and gear for a living (for now)..
Currently have a Black Pearl Export, but looking for a DW Collectors..They just sound too sweet.
Had an old Ludwig from the 70's and a Tama Swingstar when I started playing again..Now that I know the difference in quality DW is for me..Used to think I liked Mapex until I met one..:lol no offense please..Inside joke..Yes..God Does have a sense of humour..
Prefer Zildjian Cymbals..only because I grew up with them..finding alot of the Sabians sound pretty good.
I like to have fun..and goof off with friends..Just please remember I am a lady..Thanks  Roll Eyes

Greetings to all!
What a great site, for the BEST musicians in the band!-we are the only ones that have to balance between axes and board players, that's why so many drummers-are the best producers. Lot's of cool gear, like the individual setups. I grew up as a prog drummer-influences Carl Palmer,Billy Cobham,Phil Ehart,Alex Van Halen, Terry Bozzio,Neil Peart, and lots of others:)-Ozrik Tentacles rocks too!
Currently doing a solo project, anyone coming down south, stop by!

peace,
DrumMan

Look at the top of your screen and you will see a Groups option just to the right of your name, check that section out as well.  Your name, IM, PM, Chat, Forum, Groups.

My name is Reno, I played back in the Jr High days and recently picked it back up after a roughly 25year break (my original set got stolen, by the time I had money for a new one I had other priorities - namely, kids... lol). Of course I'm not a teen anymore so it's been a slow go getting back into the swing of things.
I have never taken lessons (and in some areas it really shows), but I can still lay down a groove or two. I like any music with an interesting groove and some nuance in the playing (like Rush, floyd, stones, zep, etc).

Reno has been working with PASHA on some enhancements to DSA, which PASHA will announce at an appropriate time.

I just wanted to sent some kudo's to Reno for his willingness to contribute his "other" skills to make the DSA website even better.   Smiley

Hi all!

Found this forum, took a look around and felt that this is one of the nicer drum forums around.  So I thought I'd take the leap and dive in!

My name's Jon, and I started drumming seriously about 5 years ago after a lifetime of dabbling on other kits.  A friend of mine was trying to clear out a ton of his musical instruments to prepare for a move, so I ended up with both his Yamaha DTXII and a clearly low end set by some company called Kadence.  I put them together to make a hybrid acoustic/electric set and haven't looked back since!

JKL...I like your attitude, Bro, go with what you got, all the ways you can.  Go through this forum and check out the other offerings by these dedicated percussionists here.  Trust me, it is worth every minute you spend here.  Enjoy!

Hello all... the name is Adam... i have spent a lot of time reading a lot of drum forums on the internet and so far have been very pleased by what i have been able to find here... (usually the first thing you find is a post entitled "best drummer ever" which involves a bunch of people informing other people that their subjective taste is in some way objectively incorrect...)

i have been playing for about 17 years... got started when i was 13 and my brother needed someone to keep time for him... i seemed to take to it quickly...

i have never had any lessons... although i have solicited a great deal of advice... and now i teach as well as play as much as possible... i have had the opportunity to tour extensively across Canada and Europe over the last couple of years because of my counting abilities...

i am looking forward to discovering many more tidbits of wisdom here... as well as finding those wonderful posts that make me realize that i am far from alone in my thinking and my approach to drumming...

it is nice to feel home...

Adam,  A sincere welcome to the DSA website and to the Forum.  There is a LOT of stuff on this website....maybe you can't dig all of it....but I believe you will find lots of interesting topics, helpful tips, and some other cool stuff, as well as, the opportunity to share with other drummers.

The dialog on the forum is always a two-way street.  Sometimes you ask for opinions about specific topics.  Sometimes you can use your personal experience to help someone looking for honest insights.

I hope you enjoy the DSA and become a regular participant in the discussions.

Cheers!
KEN
