Would you say that when trying to build up bass speed and improve co-ordination, a metronome is a must-have? Ive been playin since Feb this year and i havnt even played once with a metromone, so would using one help improve my drumming at all?

Yes. When you do play with one, you will be suprised how off time you may go. Timing is another important thing you need to develop as a drummer.

To me metronome is a second to a drum set, I can not imagine practicing without one!

They are also a usefull tool to set a tempo with when nobody in the band is quite sure exactly how fast or slow a particular piece is.  The difference between 90 beats per min. and 110 is significant.
