Zup all- I am a newbie to this site. Here's my info:

 Name: clusterflux
 Age: 39
 Location: Baltimore, Md. USA
Drum Kits: Yamaha Stage Custom Absolute, 70's Ludwig Butcher Block
Fave Drummers: Neil"God"Peart, Dennis Chambers, Omar Hakim, Buddy Rich
 Years Experience: 25+

Now that all that is outta the way, I have an Abex 18" cymbal. Got it at a flea market CHEAP. Later I was told that they were high-buck back in the day. 1950's-60's. It's in awesome shape and is sorta like a crash/ride. Medium/heavy. Has a big bell and still gets a great crash on the edge. Shiny finished bronze (?) Does anybody know about these? I'd sure like to get some info on it! Thanks!!        -clusterflux

Never heard of them, and I Googled it up and come with some confusing info:
Quote
Abex cymbals are Italian cymbals which were made by Tosco for the Meisel company (USA)until the end of 1983...

Tosco started making cymbals in 1974 and mainly had 2 series of Italian style B20 cymbals ...

They were hand hammered and machine hammered ...

Tosco also introduced the Octagonal around 1978 which inspired the Sabian Rocktagon... A B8 series was made under the name Solaris...

Tosco has also made cymbals for other companies such as ludwig and Grestch...

There is also a tosco by Sabian ...

Sabian has been selling Tosco made cymbals under the name Sabian B20 from 1982-1985...But there is a clear difference in the sound of the Canadian made Sabian...

Tosco by Sabian has also been sold in the USA by Samson...

But Robert Zildjian at one time owned the majarity of the Tosco company... And Canadian made Sabians are made in a Previous Zildjian factory...
Hope that helps...

PS: Welcome to the community  Wink

PPS: I will move this to the Cymbal Talk forum
