I'll be happy to try and help you. However,  since I can't see or hear your bass drum "donking"
tell me:

What brand (and model) bass drum you have?

What kind of wood (or other material) is the drum is made of?

What is the shell depth and the head diameter?

What heads do you have on it?
i.e. Clear Emperor Pinstripe or Coated Ambassador (both batter and front)

Is the front head ported?
If so, how large a port and where is it cut?

What pedal and beater are you using?

What muffling are you using?

Also can you describe the kind music you'll most likely be performing and descibe the kind of bass drumf sound you desire?

Unless your drum is a really trashed, we should be able to get a good sound out of it.

I never heard back about this one.

I still are wondering what the donk sound was.  I thought maybe it was "hee haw".

Maybe the donk died by now.
