Mezmerize - System of a Down

This the first album ive ever owned that i can listen to all the way through. It is really good....more importantly, John Dolmayan (drummer) has really done himself justice with his beats. Thats all ive got to say.

Anyone else listened to it?

Well. Here is  what I think:
1.- Dolmayan got significantly better (comparing to Toxicity).
2.- Comparing to Lombardino , he still has what to work on.
3.- Maybe Toxicity was not technically as good as Mezmerize, but it sounded  ... let's say - "deeper" to me. It got more air in it and lirics were making, definitely, more sence to me.
4.- BUT... Mezmerize has this -80's hook and I love it.

Overall: I DID buy this album .

I dont compare things to toxicity...only becuase i didnt listen to it the way i was supposed to. and i wish i did it differntly...

i know that John has but alot more double bass drumming in there....he admitted in an interview that he was weak in that area...but he has improved alot now...and i like it

i dont know if anyones noticed, but in the song 'revenga', in the chorus, he has a beat that had the consistant hihat being hit, the bass drum, snare an the bell of a ride all at the same time...i cant make my mind if the track has been over dubbed or he actully did a beat like that

I really wanna seethem live! Their supposet to be really good live and i missed thier tour! next time, next time ill see them!

yer his drumming is a lot more skillfull than his work before mezmerize. Not as good as joey though

Yeah john dolmayan sounds good in mezmerize. BYOB is cool to play on drums. Cant get the double bass at "marching forward hypocritic......" its fast. The Double bass in sad statue is hard too. Thats one spot im weak at.

you probably have the same problem i had back in the day, its 6/8 so play it like a triplet

My double bass isnt up to the standerd of John yet, so im not touching BYOB or Sad Statue. But im slowly improving my double bass by finding songs with triplet bursts of double bass. That i can handle well. Then once i get comfortable with that, i switch it round so i start the triplett on my left foot. Im improving quite quickly that way.

Those are my favorite, but i find new ones every week.
