Floating Feet (balance)

I thought this would be an area that Pasha would know a lot about.

i seem to be compleatly unable to lift my feet off the ground when sitting on a drum stool. Sure, i can move each foot singley, but i cant lift both feet at the same time. If i do, i just fall straight forward. I doesnt matter how high or low the stool is, i just cant stop myself from falling!

Ive never had this as a problem, because ive just played heel down if im raising 2 pedals at the same time, but only recently it occured to me that i should try playing double bass heel up. Obviously i cant.

Maybe i just have very heavy legs, and i should put on some weight (im pretty skinny), but i was hoping there might be anouther way to solve it.

(People are free to post comments like "get a throne with a back rest, and strap yourself to it with duct tape" if you really want)

Ive found myself able to do double bass with my heel up, but i have to concentrate on keeping my body as still as possible, which isnt that still at the moment!

Ive finished with my drumming today (the neighbours are getting restless), but ill give it a crack tomorrow.

Generally people who play heel down sit further away from their set than those who play heel up. So if you are now playing heelp up I would say get closer to the set. You want to lean forward a little bit but not so much that you fall forward.

Cracking!

I can feel myself getting closer. I've found it helps just practicing moving from heel-up to heel-down without playing anything with your hands. Ive maneged to sit pretty still doing single strokes heel up, but i fail badly doing double strokes or more.

i just need to stick my hands behind my back further
