Sometimes misfortune just decides it's your turn

I was the victim of an automobile accident this past Saturday evening. The driver that hit me was in the United States illegally; had no driver's license and no insurance. My car is demolished and I went to the emergency room for treatment of my chest injuries. I am obviously not the first person this has happened to, but it was
preventable criminal behavior
that resulted in my injuries and losses.
My seat belt and airbags saved my life. I will recover from the fractured ribs, but it will be a while before I can perform behind my drums. With the chest pains I have right now, I can not drive a vehicle, lift anything, bend over, turn my body, or even take a deep breath.

Hi Ken,
I'm glad to hear you're still alive. Hang in there. I'm sure you'll be back drumming. Yngwie Malmasteen was in a car accident too. They said he would never play the guitar again. Since then he's put out at least six or seven albums and plays better than before. Interesting what desire and determination can do.

Guys, thanks so much for the comments and the encouragement.
I've been off healing up for the past four weeks and I am sooooo looking forward to getting back to my drum kits in front of live audiences.
I will be back at the drums beginning on Tuesday (big band), then Wednesday (classic rock show), Thursday (Jazz gig) Friday (dress rehearsal and recording), and Saturday (stage show). I am ready.

Yikes! I just came across this thread. Ken, I'm very glad you're recovering nicely. AS Im posting, it looks like tonight was the night you were getting back behind the kit. How'd it go?

Hey there JKL1970,
I'm wrting this on Thursday morning at 12: 15 AM. I just finished up the show at 10:30 PM. Both the big band engagement (Tues) and the rock show (Wed) went just fine. The time off letting those ribs heal up was successful for me.
It's just a blessing to be back at my drums and getting to do what I love doing.
