1  General Chit-Chat / General Chit-Chat / Re: The future of music on: March 26, 2007, 08:13:30 PM
i look forward to the future of music
yea i think its sad that music like jazz and blues takes a back seat
but with my fav metal i long for more bands to push the bounderies

like dragon force that band dosnt care how out of the loop they are they just do what they like

now this whole hardcore metalcore thing i think is lame mainly just because its just a bunch of bands taking a bunch of pantera riffs and changing them up or i as i like to say f*&^ing them up  but thats just my take  on it.

now when it comes to bands changeing the worlds view on music like elvis or the beatles i think that ship sailed back in the 70s.

I like learning any thing i can get my hands on but if i were to say what style i play it would have to be metal every thing from sabbath to cradle of filth
my fav drummer of all time is Nicko Mcbrain (iron maiden)
i have been coming to this site for a little while and saw the topic and just thought id introduce my self and say whats up

i went out and bought one of those cheap 12" Wuhan Chinas from GC on sale for like $11.99 a while back....(for 12 bucks can you go wrong, probably, but...)

it has its place for me, seldomly used, its surprisingly decent....it kinda fits in a couple a tunes I do....like....um......(thinking process slow, just got up a few mins ago)......

Billy Idol....dancin with myself
INXS....original sin

just to name a couple....for me it seems when the band sound is full and the cymbal wash is already pretty loud,  there are spots to stick a china hit or two, every now and then (IMO)
 Smiley
so am I a big fan? no, but I think they have there place, definitely is based on what you're playing

after reading i went to my local guitar center and took a stick to the wuhans and fell in love with the 16 and 18 they just had that dark and punchy sound i was looking for
the 12 was great but i just figured that was for another day when i was used to the 18 and 16

i used to play in an 80"s style rock band about 2 years ago and all you need is big shells and cymbals use like 20 inch rides in place where you might use like a 18 19 or 20 crash not saying its a must but its the best $wise because where you might spend more on biger cymbals and using more than one ride but they also last forever and when you gig at a place with a crappy sound guy who cares because your band plays at 11 to keep up with you

as a session drummer i have found the superstar to work very well in the studio
my main set is an artstar II but my back up (a black tama superstar) very is what i use for my studio work it is a little over a year old and with pinstripes all around with a 14 * 8 star classic stainless snare you get just about any drumm sound you want
but keep in mind half of the session work i do is country and gospel
