1  Drum Forums / Drum Forum - HardWare - Talk Drum Hardware / Drum MUTES ... HELP on: September 25, 2006, 02:59:34 AM
i'm thinking of buying mutes for my new kit... it quite loud and even i can stand it.. i checkd with my local music store.. they say they have HQ sound OFF mutes in stock... Do these pads cut off all the resonance and make the toms sound dead?? how about the feel.. will i still be able to pull off the rolls???
let me know what you think abt this product

Also i have a problem tuning the drums.. if anyone has sound samples of your tuned drums .. please upload them somewhere.. (rapidshare.com , megaupload.com, anywhere)

Ok guys i narrowed it down to this double bass pedal

MAPEX FORGE XL (XLP-78)

Its got a Tri-Tonal Beater, wood plastic and felt
I want to know if the tonal beaters especially the wood and the Felt which look like they've been stuck on the plastic will fall off eventually??
Is it safe to go for tri-tonal beater? and what is "VARIABLE CAM Position" and Hexshaft??

Thanks a lot guys

Ive read a bit about him, and he sure sounds like a good drummer, but ive also wondered how do pronouce his name!

Is it 'amier west-love' or 'hamier quest-love'?  Ive never known lol.

Its QUESTLove, he looks like a Left-wing terrorist to me.. and sounds like a drum machine... quite talented..

As for me,
the following are my top 5 drummers of all time
1. Steward Copeland (The Police)
2. Carter Beauford (Dave Matthews Band)
3. Niel Peart (The Backstreet Boys)
4. Vinnie Paul (Pantera)
5. Bill Bruford and Alan White (both from YES)

thanks PASHA... i wanna know one more thing..
whats the difference between the Mapex VX series and Q series, is it just the exterior finish, they both are made of basswood shells, is there any difference other than shells?

5  Drum Forums / Drum Forum - Drum Talk - Drums and Drum Setups / FLATS Vs Mapex on: September 18, 2006, 07:45:57 AM
I was thinking on getting a mapex Q series kit, but when i went to the music shop i spotted a kit called arbiter FLATS lite with RACK... they seemed really compact and come with their own cymbals(which, i'm sure suck)... I cudn't play them because they were in the box and the salesman was reluctant to open the box. So my question is How do these FLATS compare to Mapex Q and VX series

here's the link

hey ppl,
I'm gonna get a standard jazz kit.. mapex q series to be exact
http://www.mapexdrums.com/drums/q/Q5044A.html

This kit has a 20" Bass drum, all i wanna know is that do all Double Bass drum Pedal come tailored to 22". Can i just reduce the length of the beater of a normal Double Bass Pedal to get the same effect on a 20" bass drum, or will it affect the sound? what are my options here?
Thanks a lot guys..
