Title: drum tech; not mirrored in left hand/wrist
Post by: primemover on August 09, 2009, 05:46:22 PM
hi all..

ok, i'm new to this and am wondering about something...

I'm trying to (as best as i can) hold the sticks - match grip - the same way in both hands (i'm a righty)...

when playing, say, on a snare, i'm trying my best to keep a 90' angle as the sticks make contact with the head (i have a simmons sd7k e-kit)....

what i have noticed is this (and i'm not sure if it is a BIG problem or just "normal" for a righty)...

while drumming with right hand, the drum stick is pretty much inline with my forearm, so when the stick comes down, the stick and my forearm make a "line"...

however, with the left hand, the drum stick and forearm (upon stick contact with head) make a sligh angle (so the stick is more towards my body)...

do you "long timers" find that your dominant hand motions are mirrored in your less dominatant hand... should i strive for that?

thanks...
