Is it possible to have someone offer
my young fella a drum chart (simple is fine) for a
modern song ("all the small things" by blink 182)
He is 11yo and just passed his first year of drum study,
and for a kids project needs to have a basic beat ready in 7 weeks.
we especially would like a nice nice fill between chorus
and song and the change of tempo.
If the request is way off track then I apologise.

Hiya.

Okay, i just need to understand what your looking for. You want the drum tabs/notation for "all the small things" by Blink 182, right?

Do you want notation for a simple beat aswell?, or just a simple version of that song?

G'day smelly granny,
thanks for responding. (I'm the old man)
My son is currently about half way through two
books, "drum charts and backing tracks" by tom jackson
and "Rythym section drumming" by Frank Corniola
These simple drum charts are the type of thing that
Cody would be able to read and master in the 7 weeks
if that is any guage for you.
The drum charts come in 3 levels of difficulty so the
easiest would be fine. (hope that makes sense)
for yes, "all the small things" by Blink 182.
We have never before varied the route from our drum instructor
this is just a youth group project, where kids
are learning some songs of choice to play simply.
If I recall there is a distinct change of beat between chorus
and the body of the song, that the music director, (a young guitarist)
not a drummer Smiley cannot quite master, and we are hiccupping
at the change, we need a simple fill for that, and simple drum tabs
for the song.
Well I've done my best to explain Smiley
Please advise should you require our email addy.
Best regards
Rodney and Cody.

Cheers Smelly-Granny,
we won't hold you to it.
I am all new to this, they have 10 songs to
perform, and I am trying to get them down from the web
(smoke on the water, wild thing (troggs) etc.)
It keeps me busy, and will be a real experience for the kids
Thanks
Rod

Wow! thanks,
the kids are supposed to learn 10 songs in ten weeks,
to date, we have
All the small things ...blink182
Wild thing................the troggs
smoke on the water..deep purple
we will rock you........queen
Zachs song..............School of rock.

We are in the process of getting the drum
chart for "smoke on the water" as deep purple are
one of the few groups to which drum charts are available.

The rest we are just taking directions from the director
it was just Blink 182's song was a difficult one for him.

Naturally any help would be appreciated though.

Cheers

No I didn't, Sad
but that's cool, politics reared its ugly head,
They advised Cody on his second meeting
that whilst they were keen on having him drum
because of his experience, they had to pull the plug
because he was too young (11yo).

The gig was getting a group of youngsters together
with little experience, and have them perform at our local fair.
The Lead singer, a young lass, who's brother was rejected
because of his age , may have objected if at a later date she found
out Cody was 11 and yet still allowed to participate.

The twists and turns of life.

Thanks for your commisserations,
just spare a thought for the organiser though!
20 kids, and turning them into a rock band in 10 weeks,
I can tell you, it was bedlam on the first night,
Mr. Dean though was a picture of calm and patience,
you gotta admire people who do these sorts of things for the
kids.
The equipment was spectacular all modern fender guitars etc.
here is a picture to paint a thousand........
