I just cant stop playing
Posted On 05/26/2010 21:09:27 by patrick10354

I recently quit a band in Houston Texas, we were working mostly in the north end of town, our band played Alt rock/ grunge, now I am 55 years old, and have been playing since I was 11. But I have always played rock, Alt, grunge, new wave..

My wife says its time to stop hang up the guns..... I just cant do it.. I have great timing, stay in the pocket, have great fills. and mostly just plan live to gig... so Im now looking to get back on it............. and have no intentions to stop..

Question open to all, am I too old to play modern rock? would you find it odd to have a 55 year old drummer playing at gigs

I'll be 57 next month. I started in a rock band, but have enjoyed gigs playing rock-n-roll, blugrass, Top-40 and metal. My drums & live gigging have outlasted 72 musicians, 21 years in the Army, 14 bands, 9 U.S. Presidents, 5 U.S. states, 4 ex-wives, 3 countries, 1 war zone, 1 fractured elbow, a heart attack and a go-'round with Hep C.

Hell no, I'm not too old for rock drumming...and neither are you! Keep on Slammin'!

Ginger Baker, Carmine Appice, Steve Gadd, Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts, Phil Rudd, Mick Fleetwood, Phil Earhart, Ian Paice, Tommy Aldridge, David Garibaldi, Nicko McBrain, Michael Shrieve, Jim Keltner, Alan White, Simmon Phillips, Alex Van Halen......and even me.....Ken Sanders; are laughing our asses off at this question!
