Few things are more exciting than coming off a tour with an imploding band situation, and getting the call from platinum selling band Tantric to come play drums for the upcoming tour. That's exactly what happened to the hard-hitting drum smasher TJ Taylor. Taylor was touring with the band Dangerous New Machine (featuring Eric Rogers of Stereomud, and Billy Grey of Fozzy) when he got the call from Tantric.
Initially Taylor was brought in to, do some session drumming on some demos for the record "37 Channels". Tantric, hailing from Louisville KY, were a short drive away from Frankfort KY where Taylor is from. "I had built a reputation locally for being a go to dependable studio drummer as well as fill in for gigs. Tantric, being drumerless reached out to Taylor about drummer duties. "Luckily I was available. I was a fan of the band, and I was very familiar with the material. Playing with the band definitely came natural." Says Taylor. He was made a full time member of Tantric in 2013, after touring for 2 years in support of the record "37 Channels". Taylor's Recording credits include the album "Blueroom Archives" which includes the single Cynical featuring Brett Hestla (Dark new Day, Creed, Virgos). Acoustic versions of "Breakdown" and "Mourning." Taylor's hard-hitting style is reminiscent of drummer like Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Dave Grohl. (Nirvana), and Ray Luzier (Korn). Definitely a drummer's drummer so to speak.
"I have had the luxury and pleasure of performing, writing, and producing music with a lot of amazing artists and musicians over the years, from arenas to sold out festivals. I am eternally grateful to be able to what I do. I hope when people see me behind the drum kit, they can see the passion that I have for drumming and music. I think music is really special, in that it's an escape for people. When you come to a show you can forget about all the negative stuff and just be in the moment. I think music does that, I love being small piece of making that happen every night on stage or in the studio." Says Taylor. Taylor was a semi-finalist in the Guitar Center Drum Off Competition, and a member of the PAS (Percussive Arts Society).
