Steve Jordan

Not only is Steve Jordan one of the greatest and most influential drummers of all time, he is also a respected producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His career credits are endless having worked with greats such as Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, B.B. King, David Sanborn, John Scofield, Luther Vandross and Neil Young.

This is Steve's first instructional program, long awaited by drummers around the world. With live performance by Bob Cranshaw, Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar and Bernie "Dr. Woo" Worrell, it also features commentary from Jackson Browne, Leroy Clouden, Levon Helm, Keith Richards and Timothy White. When his father told him that he would be on his way to becoming a professional drummer if he could play Art Blakey and the Jazz Messenger's "Blues March," young steve Jordan accepted the challenge and at age 18 was the drummer on the original Saturday Night Live Band. So began an amazing and versatile career.
Steve's teacher and mentor, Freddie Waits, at the Music & Arts High School in NY, got him the drum gig on a Joe Cocker tour just prior to the Saturday Night Live Band.

That stint was followed by Steve joining the Blues Bros. Band and recording his first #1 album "Pocket Full of Blues." The nucleus of the World's Most Dangerous Band for the The Late Night with David Letterman Show was the result of collaboration with Steve, Will Lee, Hiram Bullock and Cliff Carter of 24th Street Band fame.
Not only is Steve an accomplished drummer, he can add proficiency on the bass and guitar, as well as being a respected songwriter and producer to his career credits. That list is endless including such luminaries as the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks, James Taylor, Mick Jagger, Billy Joel, BB King, Chaka Kahn, Sonny Rollins, Luther Vandross and Bruce Springsteen. Additionally, Steve has received two Grammy's, played the Kennedy Center Honors three times, recorded on two John Singleton movies "Shaft,"and "Babyboy," and just finished consulting and being the musical director on the "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" project.

Because of his environmental concerns, Steve had Yamaha develop an environmentally-friendly Maple wood kit which he debuted on the 2000 Academy Awards show with Burt Bacharack. The special Maple wood comes from an environmental project that, when a Maple tree is cut and removed from that land, another tree is immediately planted in its place.

Steve has been the Rain Forest Alliance's emcee for the past 4 years at their annual benefit concerts.

Steve Jordan is a master of styles, Jordan's recording and performance credits include David Sanborn, Keith Richards, Patti Austin, George Benson, BB King, Spiro Gyra, James Taylor, Steely Dan and Neil Young.
