I left school in 1980 and hit the road with Matt Guitar Murphy (from the Blues Brothers), playing blues shuffles every night for a year. Later, I joined Pure Prairie League and toured and recorded with them for a year. At the same time, I was working regularly in New York; subbing, club dates, sessions, teaching, studying, etc. I was happy to be playing a variety of music!
In the early 80's I was recommended to audition for Michel Camilo, a Dominican Pianist. I ended up working that gig for 4 years, which led to other great jazz gigs, such as; Paquito D'Rivera, Eliane Elias and Steve Khan. In 1990, I auditioned for Spyro Gyra and this has been my main gig since then.
