Fernando Medina
I am a member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians (AFM Local 10-208)with years ofprofessional experience ranging from symphonic ensemble to garage to drum corps to live, recording, and touring gigs. I am adept in the following styles: rock, pop, R&B, hip-hop, funk, folk, blues,electronica, fusion, swing, reggae, latin, world/ethnic, drum corps, experimental/hybrid.

My long and varied experience has given me the ability to be equally dexterous with odd-time meters and/or changing tempos as well as with common-time arrangements. Such has also allowed me to be efficient and accurate in learning music from arrangement and/or rhythm charts as well as from recorded material.
But let's not forget what often are the most important ingredients for music: feeling, soul, emotion, essence. Conveying these features, musically, is my specialty, whether applied to songs allowing extensive creative exploration, or to those with much stricter arrangements.

Over the years, he has been a student of Randy Crouch (Florida blues and R&B drummer), Bob Moses (Pat Metheny, Gary Burton, etc.), and Jason Sutter (ex-Jack Drag).
His early performance experience included playing in his high school's award-winning symphonic, jazz & percussion ensembles. During his college years, he played snare drum in the field percussion unit of the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps . He toured extensively with the Crusaders throughout the US & Canada during the summers of 1992 and 1993, performing pieces by Mussorsky and Rimsky-Korsakov.
