Anthony is a graduate of Mohawk College, has studied at the Banff Center and the Lake Placid Center for the Arts and has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto specializing in Jazz Performance. He is the recipient of the 2004 Mohawk College Alumni of Distinction Award and has been nominated for the prestigious Ontario Premier's Award 2004. He has also received the 2003 Grand Prix de Jazz General Motors-Festival International De Jazz de Montreal Award (Nancy Walker Quartet) and the 1995 Jazz Report Award for National Post-Secondary School Musician of the Year.
Anthony is very active in supporting artists from around the world. He has had the opportunity to perform at various club and concert venues both nationally and internationally in large and small ensembles with and under the direction of various artists, some of which have included: Norma Winston, Anthony Braxton, Reggie Workman, Maria Schneider, Jim McNeely, Ray Anderson, Jeri Brown, Ranee Lee, Oliver Jones, Stan Sulzmann, Tim Ries, Dick Oates, Darryl Grant, Ingrid Jensen, Sara Jane Cion, Aaron Goldberg, D.D Jackson, Martin Speake, Nikki Iles, Rudy Smith, Hilario Duran, Sam Noto, Pat Labarbera, Ed Bickert, Reg Schwager, Rob Piltch, Lorne Lofsky, Rez Abbasi, Tony Malaby, Moe Koffman, Doug Riley, Phil Nimmons, Kirk Macdonald, Mick Hutton, Niel Swainson, Dave Young, Gary Williamson, Bernie Senesky, Don Thompson, Joe Sealy, Mike Murley, Phil Dwyer, Carol Welsman, Roy Patterson, Tommy Ambrose, Hugh Fraser, Nojo.

He has performed successful tours in Japan twice as part of the Quinsin Nachoff Quartet in 2002 and 2004, with the Steve Koven Trio in 2003 and 2004 and in the United Kingdom with resident saxophonist and composer Martin Speake(ECM) and Nikki Iles beginning in 1999. The release of their debut recording "Secret" (Basho Records) in the United Kingdom was supported by an extensive tour in November of 2002 as well a performances in Canada in 2003 and again in the U.K. in 2004. His work with Martin Speake has led to the recording and broadcast of the Martin Speake, Duncan Hopkins, Anthony Michelli Improvised Trio on BBC Jazz on 3. He has also toured Mexico numerous times with the Dave Young Trio featuring Bernie Senesky on piano as well as with the Steve Koven Trio.
In December of 2004 Anthony will be returning to Tour in Japan with the Steve Koven Trio in support of their latest release. Also, due to the overwhelming response and success of the "Everything I Love" Nikki Iles Trio CD Release Tour (Basho Records) in April-May of 2004, he will return to the U.K. once again to tour in March 2005. "Veils" Nikki Iles Quintet (Symbol Records) featuring Stan Sulzmann, Mike Outram and Mick Hutton, released in Europe continues to receive excellent reviews.
Other tours in the U.K. have included Ben Castle, Steve Koven Trio and Anthony Kerr. He has performed in international jazz festivals with Sara Jane Cion (Naxos), Quinsin Nachoff Quartet (Musictronic), Shirley Eichardt, Mike Murley, Ray Andreson as well as sharing the stage with Pharoh Sanders Group and the Brad Meldau Trio. Some of the other groups Anthony has toured with in Canada, the United States and Europe are; New York guitarist Rez Abbasi (Reztone/Cathexis), Carn-Allemano Quintet (CAP), Andrew Downing's Attention Span (Black Hen), David Occhipinti Trio (Unity-Page), Jake Langley B3 Trio (Radioland/Verve), Duncan Hopkins Quintet (Unity-Page), Son (Warner Brothers) and The Canadian Ambassadors Big Band.
In addition to performing, Anthony is on faculty at York University in Toronto where he teaches private lessons, workshops and is the course director for the third year level Rhythm Studies course. He also teaches lessons privately as well as workshops at Mohawk College of the Applied Arts and has been a faculty assistant for nine years at the Inter-Provincial Jazz Camp led by Phil Nimmons. He has taught and continues to be involved in several music workshops, clinics and ensembles internationally, at many universities, colleges and music festivals. In the past he has been involved in Yamaha and Roland product clinics. Anthony is currently endorsed by Sonor Drums, Paiste cymbals, Evans drum heads and Vater drum sticks and brushes.
